Five Days to Go...

Excitement! L to R: Megan, Emily, AJ
This has been quite a lengthy learning process for all of us.  One year ago, we wrote an Albright-Wirth Grant for language immersion in China. In February, 2012, we learned we received the funding for the grant from the National Park Foundation.  After the initial excitement wore off, we started to realize the headache that is traveling internationally for the US government.  The paperwork and phone calls have literally consumed us for the last three months!

Now, with only five days to go, it is finally hitting us: we are going to China!  There are still a few loose ends to tie up, of course, but we have our plane tickets and our arrangements.  Once in Beijing, we will head to Jiaozuo City (heretofore 'JC'), where Henan Polytechnic University- our school!- is.  Picking us up at the airport is a ranger from Yuntaishan World Geology Park near JC.  When we're not in class, we plan to work with and learn from Yuntaishan rangers.

During our travels and studies, we hope to update this blog with journal entries, pictures, and hopefully some fun stories.  Join us in our eye-opening journey from the Grand Canyon to the Great Wall!
